The Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is a public research university located in the urban coastal city of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. QUT is located on two campuses in the Brisbane area: Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove. The university in its current form was founded in 1989.
Gardens Point campus is located in Brisbane's city centre, beside the Brisbane River and adjacent to the City Botanic Gardens and Queensland Parliament House. At the centre of the campus is the Old Government House which was built in 1862 and re-opened in 2009. The faculties of Business, Law, and Science and Engineering are based at this campus.
Gardens Point campus hosts the Gardens Cultural Precinct, comprising the Gardens Theatre and QUT Art Museum, which offer a full theatre and exhibition program.
The Gardens Theatre features professional theatre, children's theatre, and student showcases.
The Theatre is an inner-city Brisbane performing arts venue comprising a newly refurbished 395-seat proscenium arch theatre with orchestra pit, and natural light-filled foyer with unobstructed garden views and an open-air atrium. The complex also features a Box Office and licensed bar front-of-house, as well as a Green Room, dressing rooms, and rehearsal/performance studio with sprung floor back-of-house.
The Theatre team chose the market-leading Primera Beaufort. The Beaufort was the ideal choice for the stylish, contemporary aesthetic carried across the whole refurbishment.
The seat has clean and simple lines but is a comfortable and popular choice for performing arts venues all over the world.
