Ferco Seating is a Shropshire-based seating manufacturer and there is nothing better than working with local clients.
Wrekin College is an independent co-educational boarding school based in Wellington. Founded in 1880 as 'Wellington College' the school is set in extensive landscaped grounds and playing fields.
With over 400 pupils, the school was one of the first of its type to become fully co-educational in 1975.
The school created The Wrekin Business School to provide the Accounting, Business Studies, Economics and Psychology students with an environment in which they can immerse themselves in the world of business.
Completed in 2017, the Business School was a modern extension to an existing 1950's teaching block. Designed by Shrewsbury architect Baart Harries Newall, the building won the 2019 RIBA West Midlands Award.
The fixed-seat auditorium provides a space for guest lectures and life skills seminars. The venue can also be hired privately for corporate lectures and conferences.
The lecture theatre has 48 fixed seats and 24 moveable seats. Ferco also designed, manufactured and installed four rows of bespoke tiering for the space.
For students comfort, the architect requested a generous 350 mm writing desk, which Ferco was able to accommodate.
The timeless Athena tip-up lecture theatre seat was selected for this project. An enduring feature of university and higher education teaching rooms, the Athena is designed to maximise space.
Incorporating a fixed writing ledge, with a fixed seat back and a sprung tip-up seat, this seat is ideally suited for use on the bespoke tiering system.
