UWE, based in Bristol is a well-known and respected university, specialising in subjects across the Creative Industries, Health, Science, Business and Law.
The Frenchay Campus now includes a new Business School offering an innovative way of studying and working. The new social and learning spaces allow students and lecturers to make valuable new connections with each other.
A 300 seat lecture theatre and two Harvard style lecture theatres are within this new development with the newly designed space enabling flexible learning and a more engaging experience for the students.
Working alongside ISG contractors, our HBS system was installed comprising of Turandot seating in three colours randomly dispersed throughout the two auditoria.
The system promotes our "Turn & Learn" collaborative learning, with the auto return swivel gas lift on a swing arm mechanism making multidirectional seated movement effortless, whilst tucking the seat neatly under the ample writing desk automatically once the seat is vacated.
In order to maximise the student capacity of this room to 300, our traditional Athena lecture chair with laminated writing desking was installed in the main auditoria.
Additionally due to the M&E plant within this split level room, a specially designed series of structural steel bridging units were supplied and installed by Ferco UK to carry the tiering structure.
Tiering was incorporated within the build and we provided 3 lightweight tiered structures, constructed using our tried and tested 50mm x 500mm SHS skeletal frame with hardwood throughout structural plywood decking, sealed to form an airtight plenum within each room.
We provided both hatches for access and diffuser cut out holes for the forced, conditioned air to flow.
