The story of Windsor Park began in 1905, when two of Northern Ireland's most popular clubs - Glentoran and Linfield FC - combined. The ground, bearing name of its district Windsor, earned its fame in 1930's, yet over the years the stadium size started decreasing significantly.
In 2012, a new vision for progressing a £32million upgrade of Windsor Park stadium was put into place. Comprising three new stands, with only the 1970s north one being left standing from the existing structure. The capacity increased to over 18,000 seats offering a state of the art UEFA category 4 stadium, capable of hosting major international, national and domestic football fixtures.
There was full replacement of the pitch and drainage, demolition of the South Stand, and replacement of the South and East stands, which now provide modern spectator and media facilities. There was refurbishment of the seating in the West and North Stands and replacement of the flood-light masts with the new floodlighting integrated at roof height.
During this massive development, the North 'Kop' stand suffered structural damage, which set back the construction of the South and East stands. The 4,000-seater stand was quickly re-constructed and work on site was back on schedule.
The new headquarters for the Irish Football Association are now located in the East Stand with the South Stand housing international match day, corporate hospitality and conference facilities.
Our FCB-M seat was the chosen general admission seat and is installed within all stands. This was a perfect seat match for Windsor Park, with its integrated maintenance free rotating mechanism with interior counterweight, ensuring a perfectly engineered fold back. The seat was specified in an array of RAL colours - green, blue and white representing the football teams that play their home games in the stadium.
The South and adjacent quadrants feature a range of superior corporate seating from our ARC stadium collection. The ARC range of seating sets new standards in spectator comfort with the ARC Max offering opulent padding that provides the maximum in comfort for the most demanding of spectators. With its high back, wide seat, padded side panels and solid wooden arm-rests, the ARC VIP is a luxury sports seat that meets the expectations of corporate clients and directors. It is highly customisable with seat heaters, cup holders and individual sponsorship.
Windsor Park continued to operate during the complete redevelopment of every stand, ensuring all scheduled football matches could still be played.
The redeveloped stadium was reopened on Saturday 8th October 2016 at Northern Ireland's FIFA World Cup qualifier against San Marino.
