Aspiring to be the leading international financial district in Malaysia, the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) is an integrated development that combines commercial, business, residential and recreational enterprises in one area. The Menara Affin Bank is one of the many commercial development projects at TRX, and has recently completed the construction of a 35-storey office tower to house all of its subsidiaries in a single location.

The building was designed by NYR Architects, a Kuala Lumpur-based architecture firm established since 1992 in collaboration with iPartnership interiors. The Menara Affin is a GBI-certified building with an open floor layout concept for offices and a central core for lifts and other services. A public sphere has been planned on levels 3 & 4, where the banking hall will be used to facilitate public financial assistance for walk-in customers as well as an auditorium to accommodate financial conferences and training.

Ferco was honoured to be awarded the project to supply and install a total of 300 auditorium seats comprising of a mix of Beaufort and Caspian models. 22 Caspian seats were arranged along the front rows of the auditoriums VIP seating area. Configured in link seating arrangements, the seat has been customised with a wider seat and backrest and finished with a wooden back and seat outer. These Caspian auditorium seats also have a built-in concealed A3 writing tablet. The writing tablet can easily be stowed away into the hollow section of the armrest when not in use thanks to its gas lift feature.

Installed across the remainder of the auditorium are Beaufort seats which have also been customised with wider seats and backrests and finished with wooden backs and seat outers. The ergonomic backrest design of the Beaufort provides excellent lumbar support for comfort even when sitting for long perionds. The Beaufort seats at Menara Affin also feature a built-in A4 size writing tablet. Mounted directly onto the seat armrest, the Wrimatic Lite can be stowed away with ease in one smooth sweeping motion when not in use.

The seating configuration in the Menara Affin auditorium also allowed for a set of 3 linked seats with tandem removable leg and castor wheels to allow full mobility of the unit. This bespoke feature provides a flexible space that can be removed and accessed by wheelchair users when required.

Upholstered in different fabric colours to differentiate between the VIP section and the general seating area, the two auditorium seat models complement each other and enhance the space with its contemporary and sophisticated design.
